How sweet is Purition? Discover the natural taste of real food shakes

Jun 18, 2025

When people try Purition for the first time, one of the most common questions we hear is: “Is it sweet?” The short answer? Not like you’re used to. And that’s the point.

Purition isn’t made to taste like dessert. It’s made to be one of the healthiest, most nutritious real-food meals you can have in a matter of minutes—naturally flavoured, minimally sweetened, and free from anything artificial. So, if you’re curious about how sweet each blend really is, or wondering where to start on your real food journey—this guide is for you.

Real food. Real flavour.

Unlike most shakes on the market, we don’t try to engineer flavour or fake sweetness with additives and flavour enhancers. Instead, we use the natural goodness of whole food ingredients—like ground nuts, seeds, freeze-dried fruits, real vanilla pods and a minuscule amount of stevia (we add less than 30g to a 70kg batch) to gently balance flavour notes.

That means most of our blends taste subtly nutty, mildly fruity or lightly flavoured—never overpowering or artificially sweet.

The Purition sweetness scale

Here’s where each flavour sits on our internal sweetness scale—from subtle and nutty to naturally fruit-forward.

† These blends include a touch of natural flavouring, thoughtfully chosen to enhance—never mask—the true character of our whole food ingredients. Like artisanal chefs, we use just enough to coax out their inherent goodness. The same philosophy applies to our minimal use of Stevia; measured in parts per million, it's there to balance flavours, not create artificial sweetness. For the purest experience, pair with unsweetened milk alternatives, as sweetened versions of nut, soy, and oat milks can overwhelm the natural subtleties we've worked so hard to preserve.

Note: Sweetness is highly subjective. This scale uses our unflavoured Naked Blend (containing no added fruit or stevia) as the baseline.

Your Purition journey

We believe good food should taste good naturally. Unlike ultra-processed alternatives that use artificial sweeteners and flavour enhancers, Purition relies on the inherent goodness of whole ingredients.

For newcomers to Wholefood Nutrition: If you are transitioning from heavily processed foods of sweetened shakes, we recommend starting with our fruitier or naturally sweeter blends. This gives your taste buds time to readjust to real food flavours while still enjoying every spoonful.

As your palate evolves: Over time, many of our customers find themselves appreciating the more subtle, nutty flavours. This natural progression isn't just about preference—it's evidence of your taste buds reconnecting with real, whole food.

We tested these blends with semi-skimmed milk in a standard blender. Remember that your preparation method can affect taste—try different milks, blend times, or adding a small piece of fresh fruit to find your perfect balance.

What our customers say

"I started with Cherry Bakewell and gradually moved to the Naked Blend. It's amazing how your palate adapts when you give it real food instead of fake sweetness. My morning Purition is now the highlight of my day." — Michael R.

"The natural, understated sweetness is what keeps me coming back. It tastes like actual food, not some lab-created approximation of a dessert. My body knows the difference!" — Emma L.

"Was skeptical at first as it's not super sweet like other brands, but that's actually its strength. Now other products taste sickly sweet to me. Purition tastes like something I could have made in my kitchen - because it is!" — James D.
